Why participate in social media or "what's in for me?"

The other day I heard some interesting news about Storify and from what I got it sounded liked a handy tool to quickly collect content from social networks and weave it into a quick blog post or story.

As the year is coming to an end many people tend to sit down and reflect on the past months and make plans or new year resolutions. For those of us in IT or more precisely for those of us making a living in the enterprise software business it has been a content-packed year again. Lots of announcement, lots of buzz, lots of information! No doubt about it – technology innovation is a trending topic!

For whatever reason my blog posts about social media (#socmed) have started to share a common thing: they were all responses to other people’s blog. Thinking about it for a few moments you understand that’s not too surprising though as being social implies that you are interacting (as in socializing). 

WOW, I just heard that Mark Finnern organized a Google+ Hang-out with Kevin Kelly for his Future Salon.
