Why participate in social media or "what's in for me?"

The other day I heard some interesting news about Storify and from what I got it sounded liked a handy tool to quickly collect content from social networks and weave it into a quick blog post or story.

Recently I decided to tinker with the design of my personal space in the web here at inscope.net as the old one looked a little too "tight" for my own taste. I wanted something a little bit more spaced-out and more open. Something that allows the reader to concentrate on the content - for a better reading experience

There's a great story about Socrates called "Three Filters." I believe that it's a great guideline, not only for writing or blogging ... but for life.
